We will be performing upgrades to our La Grange dialup modem banks between 6 am and 8 am on Tuesday, 11 February. During this time, dialup internet service will be unavailable to all users calling the 252-566-5476 or 252-566-0300 dialup modem banks. Web hosting and email services will not be interrupted during this upgrade.

As of January 1, 2003, ICOM Internet Services (icomnet.com) is part of the PortBridge Internet Services family. While ownership of ICOM is changing, your internet service will remain the same.

Like ICOM's previous ownership, PortBridge believes in providing local Internet access -- especially in communities that are underserved by the national ISPs.
You shouldn't notice any change in the high level of service you've come to expect from ICOM: - Your email address will not change - Dial-up numbers, usernames (login), and passwords will not change - Your current pricing level will not increase for the forseeable future
Also, PortBridge will introduce improved services for this area very soon, including: - More local access numbers and a broader service area - Toll-free "800" number support - High-speed DSL service in certain areas
A letter from Mr. Eric Hobbs, the owner of PortBridge Internet, will be sent to all ICOM customers this week, detailing the enhanced services and support offered by PortBridge. |

| An e-mail has been sent to Raleigh subscribers with information regarding the new 56K access dial-up number. Included in the e-mail are instructions on how to download and install a small configuration utility that will make the changes for you. Cable & Wireless, a major telecom and data service provider has announce that plans to restructure their operations will include the discontinuation of services to many local ISPs in the North America. As a result, ICOM has negotiated replacement access services from Sprint and will perform the switch from Cable & Wireless in January of 2003. Sprint offers the necessary data services ICOM network requires and many newer features that will benefit both ICOM and access subscribers.
ICOM will schedule the required maintenance and plan the switch carefully to avoid lengthy and unnecessary down time. This change will affect all IP addresses but the majority of members who connect by dialup will not be required to make any changes to their current settings. Members who have been assigned multiple IP addresses or subscribe to static IP addresses will need to contact ICOM to obtain their new IP address. Webmasters who have sites hosted at ICOM will need to be aware that changes to the DNS information will be made immediately following the switch. ICOM would like to apologize in advance for the minor inconvenience, but the switch is required to continue providing high quality internet access.
